Dale’s law of elections!

Newsnight

“Optimistic politicians win elections, pessimistic politicians don’t.”

Is spot on, timely and should be rolled out and adopted with immediate effect by all. People should be optimistic in the way they behave and the manner by which they conduct themselves.

Last night I missed the top half hour of Newsnight – but managed to catch it today. First let me say, I now understand clearly why the LibDems did not elect Chris Huhne as their leader – Clegg might not be a lot of things but he would never have behaved the way Huhne did last night.

As for John Prescott well, lets just say it would have been a surprise if he behaved differently – after all this the man who punched a voter down to the ground while campaigning!!

I don’t know how Eric Pickles managed to stay calm throughout but I now fully understand his tweet { In the silence of the cab going back to the Commons after #Newsnight can still hear ChrisHuhne & johnprescott screaming}.

How did he manage it !?

But what truly surprised me – aside of how negative this election is shaping out to be – is Gavin Esler, the presenter who showed no desire what- so-ever of managing the situation and was himself shouting over his guests not to take control and bring order to the proceedings but to make a personal point!

Yeah it was unwatchable really. I dont really like Eric’s Tweets but he did well on Newsnight letting the other two fight it out
