Well, it is not a secret that I am a Tory!

Back in 2005 when David Cameron and David Davis were standing for the leadership of the Conservative Party I had a very tough choice to make because I liked both of them equally but I had only one vote to cast – so I voted for Cameron and jumped at the opportunity to campaign hard for Davis a couple of years later – a small gesture but very good for my soul!
I voted for Cameron because in him I saw a visionary leader who can bring something new, something fresh to our politics. Something the country was desperate for. I felt “like many Tories” some of his new ideas were hard to swallow but the majority of the changes he brought to our party were essential and very dynamic. Though we all knew it, we could not help to fight it. Change is difficult it is hard to imagine and even harder to embrace.
That brings me to the Tory Manifesto launched on Tuesday – sitting there in that imposing shell of grander (the Battersea Power Station) I had goose bumps all over while listening to our 2010 Manifesto unfold. It has everything a harmonious progressive society needs to grow and go forward together.
The cynics will moan that it had no concrete policies… and no figures! They will grumble ‘but what about the deficit’ and nag about the lack numbers!
But people – we had all that in 2005 in 2001, in 1997 were did it get us – how much of it was even delivered?
Ask your self this…..
Do you want facts and figures that don’t compute and never get delivered or do you want a society that can realise its full potential, take the lead and its rightful place in the world stage? Communities that are empowered and encouraged to become the best they possibly be? A future generation that is full of hope and optimism – and know it is not just a dream!
Today I broke two of my rules. While canvassing a young couple I accepted a tea invitation and at their request spend 20 minutes explaining our manifesto. Of course they will vote Tory – but that is not what excited me. What thrilled me is how timeless and timely our 2010 manifesto and the look in their eyes when they realized what we were offering them.
