With the UK limping out of recession (economy growing above the 0.2 expected to 0.3% in the fourth quarter), it seems a snap early election is on the cards again. Last weekend I heard from a very reliable source that Brown will call an election on Monday. But when Andrew Rawnsley’s book unleashed Bullygate on Sunday, Chilchot confirmed Brown’s appearance in-front of his inquiry on Monday and on Tuesday Darling’s “Forces of Hell” hit the media. It looked like maybe not!

But now, March 25 looks more and more like a good day – for Labour – to hold a General Election. Not only will it safe Darling and ‘his successor’ form presenting a Budget but with the fast shrinking Tory lead (+6 in YouGov and +5 in Ipsos/Mori) Labour is in the best position -poll wise – since Brown bottled it. In my humble opinion, the case for a March ‘snap’ election has never been stronger; and by the way, Tory Politico has a much sophisticated explanation here.
