The Power of Twitter!

Twitter

Whatever people might say about twitter and social media, one thing they are defiantly not ‘just a waste of time’. They can be dangerous – if you are the type who needs to vent instantly – and can even be disastrous if you are reactive and don’t check your facts before posting. But most of all they are a wonderful communication medium. Who thought 140 characters can be this prevailing – but then you know that!

Some tweets are just hilariously entertaining like this morning – the Mirror’s Kevin Maguire tweeted [: Had 6.50am call from a Lab cand moaning about what I had/hadn’t written. Tip: 6.50am not a good time to influence me]

Didn’t that candidate hear about the 9 am rule (most people know it is bad business/manners to call non family members before 9am Monday to Friday) I would even add to that my personal rule for calling people on weekends (Saturdays by arrangement only and don’t call anyone on Sundays if you can help it).

Tweets can also be very insightful and can give a good glimpse of what goes inside the Twitting mind like this one also this morning – from Labour’s Twitter Tsar Kerry McCarthy MP[: Memo to self: do not log onto Twitter for “quick look” after midnight unless u want to get so wound up u can’t sleep. Switch off!]

Clearly a restless night …….she then confirms her anxiety with this tweet [: Memo to others: just because I’m on Twitter & most other MPs aren’t doesn’t give u the right to hound me, no matter how righteous ur cause.] Ouch!!

Like everything else Twitter can be addictive and even distributive if you let it, but it is without a doubt a very powerful and useful technology – why didn’t I think off it first!!!
