Handing Power Back to its Rightful Owner!

Today, inside the imposing façade of Battersea Power Station in south west, London – the conservatives’ lead by David Cameron have launched their 2010 election manifesto. An invitation to the people of Britain to join the government of Britain, it was clear simple and to the point – for too long Britain and her people were shackled by big government at the expense of the society.

The manifesto (built around the core of conservatism) pledged that a Tory government will trust and empower the citizens while it continues to help those who need assistance and support. It is the big idea of small government with fewer powers handed to the state but a big society with more powers and trust given back to the people.

Quoting the famous president Kennedy “Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country” Cameron then added “so, ask what you can do for your country – and, yes, for your family and for your community too.”

With responsibility placed squarely at the heart of national life – Cameron promised two major changes – a more responsible approach to tackling Britain’s debt and a greater responsibility in tackling social breakdown.

By handing power back to the people a Conservative government is offering Britain the chance to self rule – a government of the people by the people for the people – it is offering direct democracy at its best!
