School Stars!

Today David Cameron announced plans for an annual, nationwide competition in which schools would battle against each other to win a chance to record a song with Gary Barlow. The project has the full backing of big hitters like BPI, UK Music and commercial radio group Global Radio . This will bring magic into schools and allow school children to discover and express their artistic and musical talents.

With the great success of shows like the X Factor and Come Dance the appetite for performing and talent shows has never been greater in our country. And, by each school being able to organise their own contest the pupils have a fantastic opportunity to tap into all accepts of putting together an elaborate show (singing, performing, playing instruments…extra) from start to finish. This project will give young school kids the chance to explore and develop their talents with a substantial reward at the end of the school year – a recorded song with the great Gary Barlow!

Here the ‘Big Society Philosophy’ knocks two birds with one stone – the kids learn to dream and hope and work towards achieving those dreams while at the same time they stay occupied by doing something positive and productive, an all around winner.
