Just Asking!?

I spent this morning campaigning for Shaun Bailey our candidates for the newly redrawn seat of Hammersmith. The seat is notionally held by Labour but it is one the Tories need to win if they are to form the next government.

The weather was just glorious, spirits were high and we had a fantastic response canvassing.

However, what I found surprising is the ‘Clegg effect’ – it was as good as non existent on the doorstep. The majority of the people I talked to have already decided how they were going to vote – it was mostly either Labour or Conservative. I did not at all feel a sea of change to the LibDems or much change in response from the weeks before!

Which makes you wonder, where do pollsters find their samples and from where are these people ‘who are flocking in there droves’ coming?

Just asking….!?

Doesn’t it rather depend on where you are? In my constituency it is a straight dog-fight between the Lib Dems and the Conservatives – just as it was in the last election. I’ll betcha dollars to donuts the ‘Clegg effect’ would be seen on the doorstep here.
