The Trolls are out in force.

Posted 14 May 2010 by Walaa Idris

At the being of the year I wrote an open letter HERE to my favourite blog. Amongst other things I asked the editors to “…watch out for the trolls who their only aim is to derail our journey.” The editors monitoring has been great even though the number has increased after the election was called. Now that we have reached the shore of ‘coalition government’ I suspect there will be even more disgruntled members and non members alike spewing their discontent on the comments threads.

A dismal example of what it might be like in the coming days happened yesterday which thankfully has since been removed by the editor.

Respect is not only minding what you say and do with others it is also respecting oneself. A lot of these individuals who usually hid behind a fake name and identity have neither the courage of their convictions nor the self respect and substance to make people want to deal with them. But, they nevertheless mange to spoil it for the rest us who enjoy level headed civil debate.

ConHome as ‘the home of the Conservatives’ will come besieged in the coming month by discontented Tories and non-Tories alike – Tim and Jonathan have their work cut out for them. But also we as readers have to report any abuse. As a family we have a duty and a responsibility – now more than ever before we need to look out for each other.

I am seriously contemplating whether I will post any more on Conservative Home. It has been completely taken over by trolls and I feel as though I have strayed into enemy territory! Perhaps one day it will regain its common sense.
