De-winging the 1922 is not wise!

David Cameron’s attempt to abolish the function of the 1922 Committee of Conservative backbenchers is an unfortunate accretion of power and if he succeeds it will be very counterproductive long term.
In government more than in opposition it is healthy for backbenchers to have their own voice and breathing space plus it will maintain balance and give the government a sounding board.
The happiest two people in this coalition are David Cameron and Nick Clegg but neither has 100% backing of their backbenches or grassroots therefore it will be wise to allow them [backbenchers and grassroots] some breathing space. Because five years is a long time to go with out letting off steam!
