I can easily slow down..... if I have to!

Today was one of those days I spent doing very little productive stuff and a lot of waiting – and I hate both!
Usually my waiting and idle time is spent catching up ‘electronically’ on all kind of things [texts, emails, news, checking on Twitter….]. Not today, I had over two and half hours of doing none of that and I felt sad for me – is that pitiful or what!
It all started yesterday afternoon, when out of the blue my Blackberry died.
About two years ago I decided to stay with my mobile provider but not renew my contract. Even though I like their service I enjoy the freedom of not being tied down with a contract more. So I bought my own handset and for the past two years we were very happy together until my Bold 9000 decided to pack it in yesterday. Out of warranty, armed with my old BlackBerry Pearl for backup – that looks and feels alien by now – I set out to see if I can fix my favourite handset and avoid paying [I enquired about a new handset] £400 for a new Bold 9000.
Long story short my Bold was fixed and it did not cost anywhere close to the price of a new one, but I am going to buy a new Bold 9000 [since I am not too crazy about the 9700 the latest version Bold] – and I am very glad that I back up regularly because it saved my life today.
This experience has left me with a couple of things – One, Small Business are without a doubt the backbone of any economy. My phone only needed 30 minutes to be rebooted but there was a queue ahead of me which I convincingly managed to jump by two or three customers. Secondly, and surprisingly life did not stop, I did not miss any significant events because I was out of commission for 24 hrs, but most of all once I became used to not having instant information at hand I enjoyed the slower info-less pace!
