A few days ago a friend said: “Those who can laugh without cause have either found the true meaning of happiness or have gone stark raving mad. Am I mad????”
My friend is not made and like many finds is easy to laugh and does it a lot.
In our house laughing is mandatory big bully laughs are preferred and always encouraged, we love to laugh. That statement might sound nuts because who doesn’t love to laugh I hear you say! Surprisingly there are some who don’t know how to laugh or smile – many simply are unable to do either.
Studies have shown there are huge benefits to laughter and the importance of its healing ability has been established. Besides developing fewer lines than frowning, laughing is a natural distress-er associated with the reduction of grief – it is also linked to the production of a hormone known as oxytocin which is called the ‘caring hormone’ which leads to greater bonding and closeness.
An all rounder, laughing costs nothing yet pays high dividend – we should all try to laugh more!
