Tim Montgomerie’s column HERE in the Spectator is the most refreshing fact based article I read in a very long time.

Through the years, the Tory right have been deliberately vilified by socialists, liberals and those who “like to think they are conservatives”, because right-wingers’ commonsense approach to issues threatens them. So what went wrong in the past? To put it simply, exhaustion and disunity, which resulted in an unclear and unprecise message!

Compassion and common sense are at the heart of Conservatism, they are also the foundation and building blocks of a fair and just society. By trusting and believing in people you are not throwing them to the wolves, but empowering them to become the best they can be. Since most people know what’s best for them better than any government or institution, as for those who can’t or don’t know the state should help them – but to rely fully and indefinitely on the state is what got us in this mess in the first place!
