Political Soap Opera

Yesterday, many broadcasters and political commentators were concerned by the possibility of sustaining this political marathon. With the Conservatives dominating the political media, Labour playing catch-up and the LibDems very exited by the prospect of government, there was genuine concern that the country might suffer from political overload. And since the election is still a few month away keeping the momentum is not going to be an easy task. They are right to worry, since they too need to keep-up and sustain the same momentum in-order to maintain the publics’ interest.
As an optimist and a realist, I see why that might be a possible problem. But since the main party leaders have very different personalities I am optimistic that their reactions to each others’ announcements will keep things fresh and exciting to follow, guaranteeing the media all the fodder they need until the election.
Take today for instance, who thought Clegg would rather chock to death than compliment Brown! Or Brown with Andrew Marr on Sunday, it was painful to watch him fighting not to say ‘cuts’ which he knows are unavoidable and the public expects and is prepared for them.
As long as Brown and Darling continue on with their dysfunctional relationship and Clegg thinks’ the LibDems and him are the trump card that will save the country, we will have political soap opera to entertain us all the way up to Election Day.
