What Arrogance!

Today’s report from the CML (Council of Mortgage Lenders) that repossessions are lower than forecasted for 2009. Is comforting yet still very bad news for the 46,000 home owners who lost their homes and they are still up 15% from the 2008 figures. The report also warns that we are not out of the woods yet, especially as the economic outlook of the country is patchy and uncertain, with interest rates expected to rise sooner than anticipated to curb inflation from increasing further, caution is still the order of the day.

But for John Healey MP to tell Radio 5 Live listeners; “For some people home repossession can be the best option” is tactless and foolish. He then added insult to injury when confronted by the Shadow Housing Minster – Grant Shapps MP who demanded that Mr. Healey apologies to the 46,000 homeless families – the minster did what any self respecting Labour MP would do – and compared today’s situation to the early 90s recession – why go there, why step all over these people’s pain for a cheap thrill and a moment of self satisfaction!

Besides, when will this government realize that they have been looking after this country for the past 13 years, all of which their leader has been the steward of its economy. And if the Tories made mistakes in the 90 – what on God’s green earth have they been doing all this time. Why are they so unsure and so insecure of their own abilities that they can only attack others but never explain apologies or come clean to the people that elected them?

The unfortunate thing is in his rant and feeble attempt to divert attention from his callous remark he neglected to apologize to those who lost their live long hard work investment and security – that is the extent of this government’s arrogance.
