Another ‘good’ thing to come out of the Leaders Debate

Posted 25 Apr 2010 by Walaa Idris

Besides the publics’ enthusiastic engagement – the millions watching, talking and discussing politics – and bringing to the surface the clear divide between the two main parties [Labour’s big government with more control from the centre verses Tory’s big society personal responsibility, accountability empowering and trusting people].

Before the debates – many thought the LibDems were more to the centre of the political spectrum – but the debates exposed them as much further to the left in most issues and just confused in others – such as immigration, Europe and taxation.

While in the past Liberals could promise trips to the moon to every voter and no one would blink an eye, now everybody wants details of what they are promising. Somehow this is proving to be difficult – considering they wanted equal billing – it is surprising the state of bewilderment they seem to be in. Nevertheless, it is the best thing that came not the confusion but exposing Liberal Democrats and their policies which other wise could have flown under the radar undetected like before.

Wekk im happy for people to look at our policies. I agree with most anyway. But I dont like it when many commentators and politicans and bloggers get policy wrong from all parties and talk about it as if its fact. like saying the Lib dems would release 60,000 prisoners when we wouldnt new rules would not apply for people already in prison.
