Regretfully, I am not a hypocrite!

Posted 17 May 2010 by Walaa Idris

A facebook friend left this message on my wall today: “rebecca barber – have just noticed you have clare thaw[Claire Khaw] – BNP on your friends list. Several of us did ….now she has been deleted; when her BNP Official Status was exposed.
You cannot and should not be involving yourself/ves with the BNP – clare shaw [Claire Khaw]. If you decide to keep her on your list, kindly delete my inclusion.”

Unfortunately as vile and ghastly the British National Party’s ideology and misplaced patriotism is, they are a legal political party recognised by the laws of this land.

While, not all my facebook friends (who come from all walks of life and bring with them an array of beliefs and ideologies) are acquaintances that I see and hang out with regularly. We have a lot of respect for each other; and we mostly get along very well – when debating and discussing different issues frankly and courteously!

My politics is shaped by my beliefs, my morals and my way of life. Which allows me to view all people as equal, and just as I wouldn’t expect someone to defriend me because of my race, religious beliefs or ideology – I can not defriend someone for theirs. If I defriend Ms Khaw for her dogma (membership of the BNP) then I am no better than her party who beliefs people like me need to be shipped back to were they came from!

What a night ...will Brown Resign!?

Posted 7 May 2010 by Walaa Idris

Long exciting and although it is the middle of the day – it still feels like Thursday – the night has went into the day. The Tories have a good result, despite Labour’s bullying and desperate attempts to hold on to power. But it is still unclear as to where things are…!

I have no clue how things will turn out before this week is over, but if Brown is a patriot who will put country before personal desires he will resign!

Election for Change!

Posted 6 May 2010 by Walaa Idris

Election for Change

Today is our chance to change Britain to the better, to take back control of our lives and our destinies. To start rebuilding our society and our economy, to relearn that “if it’s to be it is up to me” – and only with responsibility comes empowerment and liberty.

One person, one vote, one by one we can give Britain to her people and start the healing.

Vote Conservative, Vote for Change and Vote for a better Britain Tomorrow!

To all my Tory friends!

Posted 2 May 2010 by Walaa Idris

This is the final week – it is do or die now – it is time to give our 101%!

I would like to wish every Conservative candidate the best of luck, this is the election of the century and we need to win it for the country for our children and their children. We must win it for our soldiers, teachers, nurses, fire-fighters, and every hard working front line man and woman. For our communities and their cohesion and prosperity, for the weak, the strong, the young and the old for every man, woman and child and for Britain’s sake we must return a Tory government on May 6.

To my PPC friends I am with you all the way in heart, mind and soul and I know you will do all that is humanly possible to get that last much needed push and secure a win on Thursday.

With the exception of a couple of hours this weekend – I am devoting every day, every hour and every moment left in this election cycle to Mary Macleod’s campaign of winning Brentford and Iselworth, so blogging will be little and light in the coming days. But I will tweet regularly so you can follow me on Twitter (WalaaIdris) and also on facebook (Walaa B. Idris).

Good luck, it’s time to Rock N Roll, let’s win this baby!

We need more like Selma.

Posted 1 May 2010 by Walaa Idris

Last night Selma a life long Labour supporter took me to one side and whispered “I am voting Conservative this election”. I was speechless (for all of two seconds) with shock and glee, then I started to scream the house down with joy. Selma is my mother!

Her transformation started when we discussed the Conservatives’ manifesto – I could see she was getting excited by the Big Society Idea. She always believed that true success comes when you start from the bottom up and take those who can’t go it alone with you – that what excited her about the Big Society – citizens together doing what’s best for their communities.

But what made her take a look at the Tories was the Mrs Duffy incident, ironically as a Labour supporter she was a Brownite – she believed Blair had stolen the leadership from Brown and she never liked or trusted him because of it – and only voted Labour out of loyalty. But on Wednesday Brown had bitterly disappointed her while by contrast Cameron was growing on her. She said beside the manifesto, the way Cameron handles the public and difficult situations has warmed her a lot to the conservatives, specially his patience with children. To win this election we need many more like Selma – and I am full of hope that we will.

I am very excited that my mother saw the light I just wish my dad was around to witness it – but I am sure he is smiling down at us and cheering for a Conservative victory on May 6.

The Leaders' Debate - the Final!

Posted 29 Apr 2010 by Walaa Idris

All three leaders did well tonight!

Although Brown’s performance was the best out of the three debates, it was still flat and felt awkward. Clegg peaked too early and ended short of the finish line. The only over all winner is Cameron, he was passionate, connected and believable. He delivered just the right doze of caution about what lies ahead but assured us that together we can make it happen; together we will get safely to the shore.

From Hero to Zero in under 90 minutes!

Posted 28 Apr 2010 by Walaa Idris

What I find most fascinating about ‘Bigot Gate’ is how Gordon Brown started his campaigning day as a ‘spontaneous jolly leader’ – who at the behest of a shrewd entrepreneur – made an impromptu visit to her hairdressing salon in a newly redeveloped part of Oldham. Then 75 minutes later he morphed into a two faced – not so nice guy – with serious self control and anger management issues.

Amazing what happens when you are not true to yourself!

First Came Elvis and then came Peppa the pig!

Posted 27 Apr 2010 by Walaa Idris

Peppa Pig

What is wrong with the Labour Party’s media – how are we to take anything that they do seriously with a fake Elvis serenading Gordon Brown and now Peppa Pig (a children’s TV character who had better plans than to appear partisan)

Please people get real!
