Can it be wise to let them get on with it!

I caught this week’s Question Times [QT] this morning on ipalyer. So forgive me if this is a little stale for some.

Most political panels that include any of the following; Kelvin Mackenzie, Yasmin Alibhai-Brown or Pierce Morgan will be heated and lively but this time a much quitter man stole the show; Matthew Parris.

Matthew, a Tory who I always regard as the voice of reason amongst many political pundits out there, so when he announced that he is bored by the Middle East conflict and no longer interested in what happens. He then added that we should all ignore it, not even report on the conflict and just let them sort it out by themselves. I was shocked not in a good or bad way just surprised at the notion itself.

Also – because he has a point – some people are tired and some are disillusioned, but letting two unequal powers get on with it is can’t be a solution. Nor can its outcome be just and humane. Moreover, while we are not looking more problems will rise and old ones will grow bigger and deeper. To put it simply the situation will only get worst.

By the way there are conspiracy theories that suggest that this [let them get on with it] is exactly what some in the region want to see happen – could there be any wisdom in Mr Parris’ notion?

I agree Walaa, and it isn’t worth denying that at the minute it is really really easy to become disillusioned with the whole israel gaza saga, im a Gaza supporter, the US is an Israel fan, so i don’t think im going to get very far with this one…
