The Allure of Power!

Posted 15 Jul 2010 by Walaa Idris

In Arabic we have a saying and it translates to – “when a Bull falls down the knives come out” – a little something is lost in translation but you get the idea.

And that is where the Labour Party is at with regards to Gordon Brown – he fell and the knives are out full force – books, memoirs, leadership contenders, former aids and even past allies and supporters are coming out in their droves to tell us that Gordon Brown was a nut job and that no one wanted, enjoyed or was able to work with the man. Yet they all did!

They all work, support, aided and abided him, they cheered and applauded him, and dubbed him the clucking fist, described him as a man of substance, an economic genius and lead him to belief that he was saving the world!

So what changed and why now!?

Well if you do not look after the people on your way up the way down can be really rough. No one fears him anymore and in a curious way I feel sorry for him. To go through your life thinking that this is the way and then to find out its not must be devistating.

I see I am not alone in feeling sorry for the man! I agree with your points and add, the whole Labour Party is to blame for deceiving him to only ridicule him now – it is very telling!

The gap between what they all said and what they believed is breathtaking. Also what motivated them: even down to the wire. Why did GB resign when he did, before the coalition agreement was finalised? Because he (on Mandelson’s advice) wanted to be photographed leaving Downing Street in daylight!

And it worked [him walking with his two boys beside him] is what some will remember as his final act!
