Week One of 2010 - Part Three

Posted 3 Jan 2009 by Walaa Idris

The third and finial was Mr. Brown’s interview this morning with Andrew Marr. They covered a lot of issues from security to the environment (Brown’s new pet project) and of course the economy (who until the recession many people used to pay attention to what he is saying but that has since changed).

Even though he did not fire the starting gun for the general election he clarified a few things that will ultimately separate Labour from the Conservatives.
For starters, if he wins the election he will not be inviting opposition leaders to his war cabinet meetings because they are very ‘detailed’ but he will brief opposition leaders on the their outcome.

He is still not convincing enough when it comes to the economy and is still going on about the recession being caused elsewhere (not his fault). As for the economy of the future, Brown’s vision is very clear, he sees Britain as the world’s leader in Digital, Low-Carbon, Pharmaceutical, Bio-Technology and Creative industry, all funded by taxing the high earners whilst halving the country’s deficit over the coming four years!!!

I am no economist but his purse does not cover his ambition, especially as most of the industries he is building his dreams on, such as electric cars and wind turbines are manufactured some where else (Japan, Germany, and the USA), maybe we have some assembly plants in the UK but it is not the same.
