Winners and Losers

The Arab League dancing the “Hokey Pokey” is wrong and undignified. Wrong because it says to those who fight and want democracy – we are with you in words but don’t expect any action from us – humiliating because it cements the supposed thinking by some they are inherently dictators, quietly united and resolutely indifferent to the cries of their own people. Neither is flattering and neither will curb the wave of change. The genie is well and truly out of the bottle, so the best thing, the wise action to take will be to stand on the side of the people and be a positive and constructive part of the coming change, because change is definitely happening.

Today’s winners are the 557 members of parliament who supported the military operations – I’m positive they voted with heavy hearts and deep concern, for the Libyans on the ground and our RAF pilots carrying out their missions. They are winners for taking the side of the innocent, the weak and for listening to their cries of help. War on any scale is not to be taken lightly, but the measure of a nation is in it’s stance with the helpless and last night 557 elected representatives of the British people did just that.
