The three Labour officials who pressed the famous Gillian Duffy – the star of last year’s Bigotgate that cost the then prime minster, Gordon Brown undo humiliation – to ambush Nick Clegg at an event in Rochdale. In true Labour style it was desperate and pathetic. Not only did the stunt backfire because Clegg handled himself and the situation beautifully, it was unkind of the Labour party executive to use Mrs. Duffy in this way. Which makes you wonder is there any level Labour will not stoop to for headlines!? Unfortunately for them this only made Clegg come across graciously stately!
Experience on either a personal or professional level comes from practice and with time. Granted there are those who are wise and knowledgeable beyond their age but most of us acquire and prefect our wisdom from life, by studying from books, people, and events, then applying what we learned to our daily dealings and that takes time to cultivate. The more diverse our learning experience is the better equipped and rounded we become and that richness is as valuable and transferable as knowledge itself.
Which brings me to today’s winner, Health Minster, Anne Milton MP who said: “Anyone considering entering politics ought to wait until they are over 45”. It’s a wise and practical advice; more experience on Main Street will make all our politicians multifaceted and quash the feeling of some that the political class is out of touch.
