Is America moving to right?

This is the question everyone is asking these days? A year ago the American public could not get enough of their newly elected charismatic president; his message of hope lifted many hearts and ignited countless dreams. Backed with congressional leaders like Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the dream team promised the country a new shinny dawn and a fresh lease of life putting the country back centre stage where it rightfully belongs. They had plans to remedy all the ills and wicked deeds of the previous administration creating the jobs people need and deserve, protecting homes from foreclosures, generating affordable green clean energy and providing every citizen free reliable health care.
A year later, the country is further than before in debt unemployment at its highest more family homes are being foreclosed, the dream of universal health-care is turning into a nightmare. America’s popularity did not improve much but her enemies are much bolder and more defiant than before, with Guantanamo Bay being closed and terrorists offered ‘fair trials’ in civilian courts liberal thinking is being put under the microscope. The public is unhappy and the president’s personal approval rating – although higher than his party’s rating– is a reflection of this feeling.
Many now, feel the mood in the country is shifting to the right sighting the election of a Republican in Massachusetts – one of the Democrats safest and iconic seats –as a sign. This thinking is further encouraged as the ratings of Liberal media are plummeting while the ratings of right leaning media are climbing rapidly.
But is America swinging back to the right or did the novelty wear off? It could simply be the nation’s way of saying “This is not what we signed up for!”
