Open letter to David Cameron
Posted 25 Jan 2010 by Walaa Idris

Dear David,
As a Twitter user, I would like to add my voice to Tim’s and encourage you to consider using Twitter, trust me (if I can twitter any body can) it is much easier than it looks but it is very, very powerful. Of course, like with all methods of communications there is the risk of misrepresentation and miscommunication but that’s a risk you take everyday as the leader of the opposition. For the past four years you have proved without a shadow of a doubt that – if and when you are misunderstood, make a mistake or even slip up – ‘unlike many politicians’ you showed courage and substance and had no trouble admitting it, and putting right any error or misinterpretation.
The benefits of Twitter far outweigh its drawbacks, you don’t have to share and tweet everything or issue. Twitter will do wonders for the election (it was one of the strongest tools in Obama’s weaponry – and in Scott Brown’s special election last week) in getting out the vote, announcing where you will speak next, and any little thing you want to share in under 140 characters. It is very powerful and gives you the upper hand, but your followers will get the personal touch and feel even closer to you. Everyone following your tweets will feel it was tweeted directly to them personally from you – how powerful is that come election day! Imagine on Election Day you tweet – Samantha & I have just voted remember to VOTE!
As the first party leader to bring real change to the Conservative party, revolutionize the way the party communicates with each other and the voters, and change the language the Conservatives speak, becoming a member of the Twitter family will beautifully complete the transformation circle.
I look forward to follow and re-tweet your tweets.
Thank you,
Walaa
P.S. – Love the prison ships idea, very clever!
