Regretfully, I am not a hypocrite!

A facebook friend left this message on my wall today: “rebecca barber – have just noticed you have clare thaw[Claire Khaw] – BNP on your friends list. Several of us did ….now she has been deleted; when her BNP Official Status was exposed.
You cannot and should not be involving yourself/ves with the BNP – clare shaw [Claire Khaw]. If you decide to keep her on your list, kindly delete my inclusion.”

Unfortunately as vile and ghastly the British National Party’s ideology and misplaced patriotism is, they are a legal political party recognised by the laws of this land.

While, not all my facebook friends (who come from all walks of life and bring with them an array of beliefs and ideologies) are acquaintances that I see and hang out with regularly. We have a lot of respect for each other; and we mostly get along very well – when debating and discussing different issues frankly and courteously!

My politics is shaped by my beliefs, my morals and my way of life. Which allows me to view all people as equal, and just as I wouldn’t expect someone to defriend me because of my race, religious beliefs or ideology – I can not defriend someone for theirs. If I defriend Ms Khaw for her dogma (membership of the BNP) then I am no better than her party who beliefs people like me need to be shipped back to were they came from!

I admire your honesty and bravery-after all,if you ‘delete’ people, you cannot debate with them and therfore lose all hope of changing their minds!Communication is always better than silence.
