Walaa's Weekly Wrap-Up ~ August 03, 2013

I laughed so hard when I read Sadiq Khan’s piece in yesterday’s Guardian, where he said Conservatives are out of touch and his leader – yes, Ed Miliband is what the country wants. Besides being comical his comments confirmed Labour’s fear and deep uncertainty about their fate come 2015.
As much as I enjoyed all the excitement of not knowing when the Prime Minster of the day will call the general election, I like the painful certainty of knowing how many month, weeks and days left before the next polling day. It’s great for measuring progress and strategic planning, not to mention bringing to the surface fears and doubts.
But, this Labour party as a viable alternative is simply hilarious!
~~~~~~~~
Those who say the latest immigration random spot checks, in tubes and rail stations, are racially motivated are rationally bankrupt. It is the same old left again using scare tactics to demonize any talk or action on immigration. It’s their oldest trick in the book. In the coming days Labour high command will parade a platoon of disgusted politicians and social leaders (many will be of immigrant origin) in our TV and radio stations expressing disgust dubbing this initiative an attack on immigration – of course after conveniently forgetting the ‘illegal’ part.
Even Nigel Farage jumped on the bandwagon. But his fears are understandable; once the whole immigration issue is sorted he and his party will be finished. The surprising thing though, is none of them offered any alternatives just criticism.
While I am not a fan of the method (vans driving around…), we need to remember the posters are actually not saying anything offensive. All they are doing is asking those who are illegally here to leave and offering them help to do it. It is not insulting and only scary to those who are breaking the law and are here illegally.
However, I balm Labour for their open door policy, if they weren’t so reckless with everything this government won’t have needed to resort to such harsh measures to restore some order.
Dr Prem Sharma has some wise words for disaffected Conservatives thinking about jumping ship and joining UKIP. Anyone who thinks the grass is greener on the other side better think again. Read his post HERE.
I agree with him and add: Our party is our political family and like most families from time to time some members get on our nerves but we still find a way to tolerate them. Failing that just wait for them to step aside, but always remember that people come and they go but the party is here to stay.
Delighted with the verdicts given to Magdelena Luczak and her partner Mariusz Krezolek and I hope they never see the outside of a prison cell again. Because no amount of mental disease excuses what they did to young Daniel Pelka and the horrific manner by which they killed him. We saw from CCTV footage that Daniel was singled out with this treatment, because another sibling seemed healthier, sought and received his mother’s affection when she picked the two from school.
However, that verdict is not and should not be the end of this case. Young Daniel was also failed by his teachers, who saw he was thinning and rummaging in the school bins for food. The social services connected with that school, other friends and family members, Birmingham City Council and a host of other people who could have saved this young boy’s life by just raising the alarm. Because I am sure people noticed something was not right with him yet choice to not interfere.
