This week looks very interesting.

Don’t know about everyone else, but I see victory in unity. Waking up this morning, after weeks of wrangling, to united politicians was a good and welcome change.

A fully independent but properly regulated free press is vital to our democracy, our society and our economy. All three parties might not agree on who won the battle of Leveson, but it doesn’t matter because Britain did. Our press is still free and the liberties and rights of the public are protected. The devil as they say is in the details, but the core of the Press Regulation looks sound.

On a side note, seeing Harriet Harman very early on every news outlet, in an attempt to credit her party and only her party actually reminded me that Labour still doesn’t have much by way of policies and will jump at any opportunity to grab the limelight, but I digress.

It is good that Cameron, Clegg and Miliband agreed and put country before party – indeed a good day in British politics.

Tomorrow, in Cyprus, parliament will vote on taking a one-off levy from savers to help secure a €10billion bailout from the IMF. The proposed levy is a percentage from all savers. They plan to take 6.75% form saving under €100,000 and 9.9% from savings over €100,000.

Is it a wise move? I suspect not, but it must be a necessary one. Not to sound crass but this is the kind of measures, this government is trying to avoid and safeguard the British public from. And we should be grateful for our situation. Plus remember, as bad as it might seem now, if we aren’t careful it can get even worse.

Governments, business and individuals who spend beyond their means always fall under the mercy of those who rescue them. Spending what’s not there and prospecting with quantitative easing will ultimately backfire. Economic growth, especially in depressed times such as these, need to be organic and built on a factual foundation in order to sustain itself and grow naturally. This can only happen with maintainable jobs creation and lasting viable measures.

“Is it a wise move? I suspect not, but it must be a necessary one”. Good God Walaa, is that really the best you can say about the powers that be stealing from those who have been prudent and saved. You are certainly no conservative! It seems to me that if the authorities asked you to jump you’d merely ask how high.

Good God Gregg, I don’t make it my business to sort out every nations’s shortcomings.

Plus you don’t regard me as a Conservative – so what’s the problem? ;)
