Walaa's Weekly Wrap-Up ~ June 8, 2013

Posted 8 Jun 2013 by Walaa Idris

A week of full shocks and surprises, it began with the massacre of Robb, Talisa, Catelyn and the unborn baby Stark in Game of Thrones. I did not read the books so please feel for me as I am still reeling from the shock and already very sad the season is ending. Fiction or not the wedding massacre was shockingly shocking.

It was then followed by the Lords’ orderly and quietly moving the Equal Marriage bill to the next stage. Surprising because you’d expect older folks and religious members to put up more of a fuss over this bill rushed unequal bill!

A Hungarian group is tipped to win ‘Britain Got Talent’ don’t see what all the fuss is about. I mean really, we have one of two choices; either we pronto go out there, conquer Hungry and make it part of Britain or change the show’s title to ‘Europe Got Talent’ – just kidding of course. However it tosses up a serious issue. It seems our kids are talentless bar singing, dancing and footballing, so maybe we should address that one, encourage and cultivate other talents.

On a more serious note, the biggest shock of all this week is discovering GCHQ is spying on us by covertly gathering information from overseas online companies, such as Google and Facebook, by using Prism. Prism is a system that allows the intelligence agencies to circumvent formal legal processes to gain access to private and personal intent material such as emails from internet companies outside the UK. Allegedly GCHQ had been using Prism since June 2010 and has gained access to almost 200 people since May 2012. Whichever way you slice it this is very serious stuff.

Blow is this week’s blog and a post for the past few weeks has been visited many times by many people.

Just watch, Miliband’s Winter Fuel Allowance will end up being Labour’s own goal.
Three points I feel will either make or break our party.
