Walaa’s Weekly Wrap-Up ~ May 17th, 2014 ~ Leading Britain’s Conversation.

This week’s Wrap-Up is dedicated to LBC Radio station, for cleverly extracting the truth and exposing it, twice!

I am one of those people who like to have background noise, sometimes its music but when I’m working or driving its talk radio – mostly BBC Radio Four or LBC.

On Wednesday I was on my way to Hove for a trustees’ meeting – I am a trustee for Mankind. So I had Iain Dale for company and he had Ed Balls as his guest.

After failing to get an apology from Austin Mitchell – in a tweet Mitchell described drug’s company Pfizer as ‘rapists’ in their AstraZeneca takeover – Iain had much better luck with Ed Balls. He managed to get Ed Balls to admit the ad Labour recently used to show the 20% VAT increase cost households’ food basket to increase by £450 was wrong. 1) Because a £450 increase meant each household had to spend around £21000 per year. And 2) the food products used in the party political advertisement are none VAT-able items.

Friday morning LBC had another success. James O’Brien, who tends to get on my nerves sometimes, was interviewing Nigel Farage. I have meet and talked to Farage , but that was in June 2012 before Ukip’s serge in the polls. I found him to be charming and witty – but on Friday I heard a very different Nigel Farage and a dangerous one at that.

I will let you judge for yourselves, here .

Two comments/responses disturbed me in Mr Farage’s LBC interview with James O’Brien. 1) When O’Brien asked Farage if he feels uncomfortable about his wife speaking German, he replied: “I don’t suppose she speaks it on the train” and here I literally sat up straight on my seat. Something inside me said “he is going to demolish that man”. I knew then Farage was about to be paxmaned. Only for James O’Brien to ask him “What’s the difference between Romanians and Germans?” Farage answered: “You know the difference” and proofed my point – he was totally paxmaned but also exposed!

FYI to be paxmaned is to be annihilated and cut to shreds by the program’s host on an interview. Jeremy Paxman is the God of tearing people to shreds on his TV interviews – that’s why paxmaned.
