The appointment of Sir Philip Green, for seven weeks to sort out White Hall excesses has divided opinions.
Winners, see it as the appointment of a man with a great eye for detail and a fantastic ability to trim excess and turn around failing business [anytime money and a spread sheet are involved it’s a business]. As an entrepreneur who can go into White Hall and in a short time [seven weeks in this case] unearth all the buried bodies of the last government and put together a report of recommendations.
Losers on the other hand will only see Green as the man who celebrated is birthday lavishly, gave his son an extravagant coming of age party and paid his wife, who owns most of the company, after tax £1.2 billion in diffidence.
Where in reality, his appointment is The Big Society at its best, Sir Philip Green has the knowhow and the government gets to use it for free. Simples!
