Baroness Warsi of Krypton!

I know those of us on the right, whether in opposition or in government will never feel fairly treated by the BBC, sadly most of the time those feelings are not out of place.

But last night’s Question Time panel – described by some as a panel of failed politicians – Charles Clarke, the former Home Secretary who lost his Norwich South seat to the LibDems, Susan Kramer who lost her Richmond Park seat to the Tories and Sayeeda Warsi who failed to win her hometown seat, Dewsbury, in the 2005 election were sandwiched by Formula One’s Max Mosley and the journalist Rageh Omaar.

The panel was very left heavy and although for some it is an issue, it is not at all a matter with me. Because live is not always balanced and is very rarely symmetrical, good clever people who know their subject matter well can hold a coherent and logical argument in any environment.

However, for the chair, David Dimbleby, to show bias and deliberately steer the proceedings on a certain direction is unethical. Particularly as this chair has done it more than once before. Having the audience jeer the panelists and applaud uncontrollably might on the surface of it look like good entertainment ‘a la Jeremy Kyle show’ style, but that was not what the viewers of this particular programme had in mind when they tuned in. As for him joining in the heckling is simply despicable!

Despite the obvious attempts by the programme to dislodge Baroness Warsi’s confidence, after a brief bumpy start she held her ground well and beautifully to the end. If anything last night she managed to redeem herself, after her conference interview with Andrew Neil, and reclaim her place as the Tory’s Super attack dog.
