Miss Cameron missing for 15 minutes is an answerable security breach

Talk and sniggers about Prime Minster David Cameron and his wife Samantha leaving their eight year old daughter behind in a pub (the Plough Inn, in Cadsden, Buckinghamshire) might be tabloid fodder and an opportunity for some to make fun of the PM and his parenting skills. But from where I’m standing it’s neither. Not because Dave is my party leader and I like him, but because he is the leader of our nation, the Prime Minster.

When I read the article HERE, as a parent, a shiver shot through my spine, losing a child is the number one nightmare of every parent. But still could not help but wonder what types of pressure are the Camerons under to not carry out the basic customary headcount we parent live by!? And, although the responsibility and safety of any child lies firmly and squarely with their parents and guardian, however, in this occasion, Nancy Cameron is not any ordinary child and her responsibility and mostly her safety also lies with the Prime Minister’s and the Camerons security detail. Even if they (the security detail) were dismissed for the day (which in this occasion they weren’t) there will and should be at least one Close Protection (CP) officer with the PM and his family. These highly trained security officers are Hawk – Eye alert at all times!

So, where were the PM’s CP detail and why did it take fifteen minutes, until both cars arrived at their final destination, Chequers, before discovering eight years old Nancy was missing? Why didn’t the CP do a headcount – that in itself is a serious and answerable security breach and should never have happened in the first place!?
