Walaa's Weekly Wrap-Up ~ June 22, 2013

Globally the week was somewhat turbulent. On opposite sides of the world, protesters in Brazil and Turkey took to the street to show their discontent, and despite the authorities attempts to curb them both don’t show signs of slowing down. Funny how like the Arab Spring both began with one issue, and quickly turned into a totally different matter.

The Arab Spring began when a young market trader was publicly humiliated by a female market inspector in Tunisia. Turkey’s began when Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan planned to redevelop an Istanbul square. Brazil’s protest started as a peaceful demonstration against a $0.20 bus fair increase and quickly developed into what we see today.

Two years ago in London, we saw how a peaceful march to Tottenham police station resulted in the 2011 London Riots.

These days it seems we are all on edge, quietly boiling inside waiting to snap, or are we?

After years of fighting the Taliban, thousands of lost lives on both sides of the fight and billions in taxpayers’ money. Now Obama wants to try out peaceful talks and negotiations with the Taliban! Some of us have been saying for years, try negotiating with the Taliban. If I lost a son or a husband to the Afghan war my blood will be boiling right about now.

This week’s site traffic was somewhat consistent though a little less than last week’s. Readers and visitors liked posts as follow;
