Happy with a tinge of sadness!

Wow time does fly; five years ago around this time (at the end of the 2005 General Election) I decided to take up political arms “run” for office and stand for parliament.

The first thing I was told by my then new MP Sir Malcolm Rifkind: “In the UK we don’t run for office we stand for office”. That statement opened my eyes to the size of the mountain ahead of me. Having American influence was cute socially not so much when you want to become a British legislator. Up to that point everything about me was wired differently and needed rewiring, including my brain and so my journey began.

That is why today is a little emotional ‘according to my plans’ I hoped today I will be one of the Tory Party’s new parliamentary intakes – now having said that I am neither sad nor sorry for giving half a decade to a dream that keeps getting bigger and stronger by each day!

I also would like to take this opportunity to specially wish the new girls and boys a wonderful and exciting time in parliament and all returning MPs Good Luck – you guys are the lucky ones and well done!
