The SEN debacle!
Posted 14 Sep 2010 by Walaa Idris
Disturbing and damning report out today, that as many as half (750,000) of all the children identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEN) are wrongly diagnosed, and simply needed better teaching!
Financial and other wasted resources aside, the human cost and the psychologically implications of such wrong diagnosis is devastating to both the children and their families’.
However, these finding, as shocking as they are, are not at all surprising, it is part and parcel of the previous administration’s mentality and attitude. And their one size fits all solution for every problem, labels it, box tick it, and for good measure throw as much money as possible at it, with little or no regard to the damage it inflicts!
