Champagne Socialism is alive and well

Reading HERE that Tony Benn, the Godfather of Socialism is calling for “ordinary people” to revolt against the government’s unavoidable cuts is astonishing!

For one he is inciting revolution, and that can not be “legal” or wise – we saw what happened in Greece – and it wasn’t pretty!

It is no secret that the cuts – although aimed at back office services – will have some effect, however small, on front line services. And, there will be a period of readjustment to the changes. The hope and the aim is for that period to be short and snappy – so its effects are not detrimental.

I am not going to comment on the class war rhetoric that was spewed at the event – I now understand it. With lefties every issue is a class war and all ailments are inflected by the rich and the privately educated Oxbridge brigade – we get it!

But I find it rich coming from Mr. Benn who is a millionaire himself, many times over, saying: “This government of millionaires says ‘we’re all in it together’ and ‘there is no alternative’.” Hinting that those who have lots of money don’t know, feel or understand issues that plight those who have little or no money. If that is the best Labour can do in opposition, they better get comfortable, because they will be in opposition for a very long time.

Bizarre, but they don’t call it Silly Season for nothing!
