Tables are turning!

David Cameron and his team, last night, missed a meeting with Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian president, because their British Airways, commercial flight landed an hour late in Roma.

Although they ended up spending the evening having a team working dinner, the question many are asking today; is why didn’t the Prime Minster travel in a private plane, his predecessors did, Blair & Brown only traveled on chartered carries?

As it turned out Cameron is adamant, to not charter planes to overseas and foreign trips – he regards being late from time to time as one of commercial travel disadvantages, but still not reason enough to charter a private plane to Roma, at a cost of between £38,000 – £40,000 to the tax payer!

I admire what he is doing – but I am angry to think what the other shower got away with!

Perhaps it makes sense for shorter flights, but perhaps he should rev up the charter plane for select longer trips?

I assume that the British Prime Minister has a good level of security detail. Do they buy up 1/3 or more of commercial planes?
