I Disagree with Nick,

In that people on benefit, like those who are not dependant on the state also need and expect to feel safe and secure. That is the job of government, to protect its citizens, old and young, rich or poor, able or not, from all harm domestic and foreign!

Liberal philosophy might see there is no need for Trident, they might even regard it as an expense and a luxury this country can do without, but common sense and our reality dictate otherwise. Particularly, as the craziest nations are armed to the rim with nuclear capabilities and at the ready, with their figure on the button itching to press it. As the centre point of the world not to mention a small island on the way west or east, we need all the fire power possible to hold the balance, and Trident is that power.

I understand the LibDems are in a bind, poll wise, but they are sitting on the top table now, they no longer need to object for the sake of objecting anymore. Trident is vital for our security and the balance of power in the world, and Clegg will do well to remember that, furthermore, using the vulnerable for political point scoring is never a good idea.

Britain, the US and other nations are campaigning for non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

The problem is that it is incredibly hypocritical for us to make that argument as we have our own nuclear arsenal and so do the US. The weapons are antiquated and were meant for the Cold War, which ended years ago.

Trident is now irrelevant.
