"If you haven't got a plan, you can't attack a plan!"

What a brilliant quote! This one is a classic and will stay around for ever!

But yesterday was about the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) which has divided opinions down the middle. Some people felt it was too harsh and it could produce dire consequences while others felt the cuts weren’t deep enough and didn’t go far enough.

Personally, I like to rip my band aids fast, swallow my medicine quick and get the pain over with as rapidly as possible so I can have fun and enjoy my self as soon as I can.

The Chancellor, George Osborne introduced his CSR by saying; “Today we have stepped back from the brink of ruin” and to the dismay of the Parliamentary Labour Party, that jeered and heckled him for the best part of an hour, he described the Spending Review as “Tough but Fair”, and it is both.

Now with a financial framework in place this government is finally on track, on route to delivering the reforms it promised, closing the gap in the current deficit and stopping the country hemorrhaging money unnecessarily.

Judging by the public attitude towards the CSR Osborne has found his balance, and gave the country a workable plan.

Now it is the turn of the opposition to let the country know what their plan is if they have one. But Alan Johnson’s response yesterday did not convey any inkling of one – both the leader of the opposition and him looked and sounded like spectators, who came to House of Commons to listen and watch the government do business!

“If you haven’t got a plan, you can’t attack a plan!”

Logically, yes you can. For example if someone had a plan to fly people to Mars with a rocket using spinach for fuel, I think I would be justified in attacking the plan, even though I myself have no alternative.

Rather that a brilliant quote it is a quip that does nothing to further the debate.
